Das BBH Policy Team sucht eine Kandidatin oder einen Kandidaten für ein halbjähriges bezahltes Praktikum in Brüssel (Beginn 15. Januar 2024).

Becker Büttner Held ist Deutschlands führende Kanzlei für Energie- und Infrastrukturrecht. Wichtigste Tätigkeitsbereiche sind Energierecht, Medien- und Urheberrecht, Steuerberatung und Rechnungsprüfung, allgemeines Zivil- und Handelsrecht sowie das gesamte öffentliche Recht und Politikberatung, auch auf EU-Ebene. Dafür ist BBH mit seinem Büro und dem BBH Policy Team in Brüssel präsent.

Wir bieten unseren Kunden Interessenvertretung gegenüber EU-Institutionen und deren Umfeld in Brüssel. Dazu gehören Politikanalysen und die Bewertung erwarteter Auswirkungen auf das regulatorische Umfeld für Akteure auf dem Energiemarkt sowie Kommunikation und Projektentwicklung.

Gesucht wird eine Kandidatin oder ein Kandidat, die/der hoch qualifziert, talentiert und motiviert ist. Schwerpunkt ist die aktuelle EU-Politik zur Dekarbonisierung und Entwicklung erneuerbarer Energien, wichtigster Kunde ist der Europäische Erneuerbare Energien-Verband (EREF).

Background

Becker Büttner Held – a company of the BBH group – is Germany’s leading firm on energy
and infrastructure law. Our core practice areas include energy law, media and copyright law,
tax consultancy and auditing services, general civil and business law as well as the entire
field of public law and policy consultancy services, including at EU level, where BBH is
present through its Brussels office and the BBH Policy Team.
In this capacity, we provide support to clients in form of interest representation towards EU
institutions and the wider Brussels stakeholder groups. This includes policy analysis and the
assessment of the expected impact on business and regulatory environments for energy
market and system actors, as well as public affairs, communication and project
development.

Our BBH Policy Team in Brussels, Belgium is looking for an EU Public Affairs Intern

Job description
To increase resources among the Policy Team, we are now seeking a highly qualified,
talented and motivated candidate who will join our team in Brussels for a six-month paid
internship and support our work especially with regards to advocacy and policy-making.
Main client is the European Renewable Energies Federation. Priority topics include
decarbonisation policies – e.g. under the European Green Deal, the Fit-for-55% Package and
REPowerEU – and the much needed expansion of renewable energy sources. In terms of
communication, we expect the selected candidate to lead on social media work.

Main tasks include:
• Support to advocacy at EU and national levels
• Research and background policy briefs
• Monitoring EU policy initiatives and adaptation and implementation at Member
State level
• Input to publications such as reports and studies (incl. data research, information
requests, etc.)
• Organisation and preparation of meetings and events both online and in live
formats, including presentations, meeting minutes, research on topics of interest,
etc.
• Attending and reporting from official events (EP committee meetings, Commission
conferences, hearings and workshops)
• Screening of EU and national funding opportunities, as well as the preparation of
tenders and project proposals
• Communication activities and campaigns, especially via social media channels such
as Twitter and LinkedIn

Requirements
• EU national or work permit holder as the internship is in Brussels, Belgium
• A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
• Proven knowledge, experience and skills in communications and social media
campaigns and management of social media tools (LinkedIn, Twitter, website, etc.)
• A good understanding of EU policy-making processes and EU energy policies
• Very strong English written and verbal communication skills
• Good communication skills in German (spoken and written)
• Strong research abilities, analytical skills and writing skills, including the ability to
summarise issues quickly and accurately
• Ability to work in a team, whilst at the same time carrying out own tasks
independently and to agreed deadlines
• Previous experience/internship in one of the European Institutions is considered as
additional advantage
